Purple star award!       Image result for purple star award hertfordshire learning

Hall Grove Group Practice have become the first practice in Hertfordshire to receive the ‘Purple star award’ for high quality to care to patients with learning difficulties.

Over the last year we have put in significant efforts working towards achieving this award. Dr Benfield took the lead in this area, had several meetings with representatives from the Hertfordshire learning disability team, and undertook further training. Our reception staff put in work to increase the number of patients attending for an annual health check. These were conducted in a double appointment, and included efforts to improve social care, as well as medical health care, and plans established to reduce the risk of being admitted to hospital. Information was disseminated to improve care given by both clinical and non-clinical staff at the practice. We have made waiting room adaptions and carers information was given to non-paid carers.

Report in Welwyn Hatfield Times:

We are starting our flu campaign for this autumn very soon. We are running our Saturday flu clinics on the following dates :

24/9/16 at Hall Grove, 8/10/16 at Parkway, 22/10/16 at Hall Grove, 5/11/16 at Parkway.

We are sending letters out to all patients eligible for the flu vaccine. Please look at our quick link on Flu vaccinations to see if you eligible. To book your appointment to have your flu vaccine please call the surgery.

As a carer it is important you look after your health and well-being. The surgery will soon be offering free health checks specifically for carers. You are also entitled to free flu jabs. Ask your doctor to register you as a carer.
Your local Pharmacist can offer information and advice about medication and work in partnership with your GP. They can review your medication as well as the person you care for.
Sometimes, to get a comprehensive understanding of the support you need, it might be helpful for you to have a carers’ assessment. Any services or support you receive as a result of a Carers Assessment will be free.
More information and contacts of where to obtain help will be included in the Carers Pack. Should you require further information, our Carers Champion Lisa Burns will be pleased to assist you."

Some more about Hall Grove Group practice

We are registering patients that are new to the area and do not have a GP in Welwyn Garden City.

The practice has served Welwyn Garden City since about 1930. The present premises at Hall Grove were originally built in 1970 and completely redesigned and rebuilt in 1992.

Hall Grove Group practiceThe surgery at Parkway has been in existence since 1953 but was expanded to incorporate the whole house in 1977. In 2010 a further extension of Parkway was completed to provide two extra rooms.

Our doctors and nurses do sessions at both Parkway and Hall Grove so you can make an appointment for the same people at either site.

We have always been firmly committed to the National Health Service in the provision of services to our patients. From 1st April 2013 we will be part of the East and North Hertfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group. This will affect the services provided locally. To see what impact this will have a look at their website
